El Fouladh (Tunisia) to expand production capacity

The only Tunisian steelmaker El Fouladh intends to build a new steelmaking complex (700,000 tpy) enabling to expand its steel capacity to 900,000 tpy. The company is currently discussing what equipment will be installed and whether it will include an additional rolling mill. Deadline for the project is also negotiated. The company is currently waiting to obtain all necessary approvals from the government. Noteworthy, the producer operates a steelmaking complex (200,000 tpy), wire rod and rebar mills (250,000 tpy in total). The equipment is running at 80% capacity. The additional square billet needed for production is regularly imported from Ukraine and Turkey. The company sells its finished products in the domestic market.
